2024 Masters Ontario Provincials Highlights

It was fantastic to see a team of Barrie Trojan Masters swimmers participate in the 2024 Masters Ontario Provincials at the Etobicoke Olympium on Apr 19-21. The meet welcomed all levels of competitors and included former Olympians, National level athletes, World, National and Provincial record holders. Swimmers competed in various age categories with the oldest competing at an absolutely amazing 100 years old. BTMSC was one of 43 clubs participating at the meet. Amongst all of the Masters swimming talent, and under the direction of Coach Maks, were a few of our own swimmers : Francie Hannigan, Manuela Lord, Kasey O’Grady, Joanna Szramek Palermo and Marta Valentic.

Joanna raced to a bronze medal in the 200M breaststroke, awesome! Francie, Manuela, Marta and Kasey made up the first BMTSC relay team! Some of these swimmers are vying to be the fastest in our Club for their family, setting a fantastic example for their kids and surely gaining an appreciation for what their kids go through preparing for and competing at a swim meet. The swimmers were very excited about the experience and hopefully are navigating the way for more of their Masters colleagues to join them in future.
